But if you look at durability, BFGoodrich AT T/A KO2 will be the highest. Due to the robust carcass and sidewall of this tire, its -puncture and cut resistance reaches different levels. Yes, the other tires are also 10 ply but their build quality is not quite the same. I am saying this from field-level experience, no tire is equal in terms of durability.

Can haul a heavy load of any weight on long highway trips. Have no problem towing anything heavy with a trailer or RV on and offroad.

One of the advantages of E-load tires is that you can increase the pressure up to 80 psi, and lower it down to 5 psi. This way you can increase the pressure a little on the road for better ride comfort. Again it can be deflated on different surfaces in offroad. I’ve run it down to 5 psi on beach sand, and never been disappointed.

But excess silica again increases rolling resistance and thus worsens fuel efficiency. Also, the tread is over-softened so the tread wear life of the tire is reduced.

However, while the grip performance of the LT tire is slightly reduced due to the removal of silica, it increases the tire’s durability as well as fuel efficiency and economy. For this reason. I didn’t face the problem of the tall side wall affecting steering response and handling.

This tire provides good grip in snow, as there are no other changes except silica compound and 6-ply. It is also a 3PMSF-certified tire in this C load tire.

It uses plenty of full-depth internal locking sipes so it doesn’t skimp on grip in the snow. It also has lateral and circumferential grooves for water dispersion, so it performs well on wet roads, not succumbing to Aquaplan.

Also, being a mildly aggressive tire, it has less noise and vibration than most all-terrain tires. It also provides a comfortable and smooth ride.

If I look at the BFGoodrich AT T/A KO2 this tire feels quieter and smoother as its tread pattern is less aggressive.

However, one area where BFGoodrich AT T/A KO2 is ahead is the sidewall, its 3-ply side wall is now ahead in terms of durability. But because of this sidewall, Falken Wildpeak AT3W now gives a good grip on wet roads and chances of skid are almost zero.

Again, its sidewalls are slightly flexible for a comfortable ride.

Also on the question of offroad, it is LT tire so it is performance compliment in aggressive offroad. You can take it on hard-packed surfaces or any rough terrain with ease.

Best of all, the Falken Wildpeak AT3W is a daily driving but off-road capable tire. So these tires are most loved by those who:

Also, the longevity of this tire is so extensive that even though it warrants 55K mileage, it is not unbelievable to get mileage up to 70,000 from it in the real world.

However, the latest Falken Wildpeak AT3W’s C load LT tires are now ahead of other tires in the All Terrain tire segment in terms of snow, wet, road noise, and comfort.

For a combination of daily driving and off-road, this semi-aggressive all-terrain tire can only be compared to the Toyo Open Country AT3, but in my various tests, the Falken Wildpeak AT3W is much better in wet and snowy conditions.

Toyo Open Country AT3

The Toyo Open Country AT3 is for those looking for the lightest tire in the 275 70R17 size range. The lightest tire of this size with a weight of 51 pounds. Its tread depth is 16/32 inches, and of course, it’s an E-load LT tire.

It is currently a very popular all-terrain tire, competing with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W. Although both are Japanese brand tires. However, they manufacture their products in America.

The Toyo Open Country AT3’s 275/70 ratio and 17-inch rims can mitigate the consequences of the disadvantage, which is why I put it on this list. If you read my intro, you should understand what disadvantages I am talking about.

However, I will talk about its comfort first. Since the 275 70R17 size tire’s on-road performance lags slightly due to the extra tall sidewalls, tires that are a little more rigid should help increase stability.

The treads of the Toyo Open Country AT3 are not overly rigid and with a mildly aggressive tread block, it is a fairly quiet and comfortable tire.

It doesn’t cause trad rumble and vibration on highway rides. As a result, the noise does not reach the cabin and interior through the car body shell and steering. And already the 17-inch rims and high profile tires have high impact absorption capacity, thus providing a comfortable ride.

Also, Toyo Open Country AT3 has plenty of circumferential and lateral grooves for proper water distribution channels. Also, the latest tread compound has been used to increase its wet braking and handling capabilities. It offers good grip and braking performance on wet roads and has strong hydroplane resistance thanks to its all-out water dispersion water channeling.

It is also an offroad-capable tire. The LT load tire is the best for aggressive off-road and is perfect for tow and haul, so it’s fine for on-road and off-road hauling.

However, the Toyo Open Country AT3 exhibits quiet, calm, and smooth ride behavior, making people buy it as a balanced tire for off-road and daily driving. It is currently a popular tire for snow, wet and longevity with minimal cabin disturbance. So you can easily choose it to solve the 275 70R17 size problem, plus get all the benefits of All-terrain tires.

Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme

This year’s tire on my list is fairly new, the Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme. The predecessor of this tire is The Dynapro AT2, which is a very popular tire.

What is the difference between these two?

The Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme is specially designed to withstand more extreme offroad conditions with on-road manners. And since the 275 70R17 size tires are made for off-road purposes, I have considered this more aggressive tread pattern version.

Its durability and longevity are also much higher than its ancestors. Not only that, it has the highest mileage warranty of 60,000 miles among all other All-terrain tires of this size. Which justifies Hankook’s claim of excellence in durability and longevity.

This 32.1-inch diameter tire has a tread depth of 16 inches and weighs 57 pounds per tire.

This tire fulfills all the criteria

– It is a 3PMSF-rated tire, so it can provide a safe ride under severe conditions.

– as well as All-terrain tires designed for extreme offroad. So you can go on any terrain with it.

But I find the Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme to be the best for offroad and towing. And on the highway, it was a very quiet tire. Its trade patterns are arranged in such a way that it is almost impossible to generate excess vibration and trade noise.

Its treads are circumferential rib shape, and rib shape tires are quiet. For this, road tires luxury tires are given a circumferential rib shape.

For one reason the dry road performance of the Dynapro AT2 Xtreme is very solid. Because more rubber contact provides more grip on the road.

Hence it provides good performance in both winter and summer seasons.

Due to its circumferential groove, its hydroplane resistance is very strong, making it the perfect tire for rain-prone areas.

If I just give a few reasons why I would choose this over other tires or what is superior

This year’s tire is not exactly an all-terrain tire, but a step more hybrid terrain tire. These hybrid tires are mainly brought to enhance off-road performance while maintaining on-road manners. And this idea was first brought by Nitto to the Alterrane market.

However, the Nitto Ridge Grappler tire is made from a combination of all-terrain tires and mud-terrain tires. So the mud performance of this tire is better than BFGoodrich T/A KO2. However, this makes the Nitto Ridge Grappler feel a bit noisier, as mud tires feature more.

However, for those who do not want to use mud tires due to various disadvantages, but are reluctant to sacrifice the offroad performance of mud terrain tires, this Nitto Ridge Grappler is the best option.

With this tire, you will get the same offroad performance as a mud tire. It will give you 60% offroad and 40% onroad performance.

So this 32.2-inch tire has a tread depth of 16.32nds and weighs a relatively low 54 pounds. Truck owners and those who are serious offroad enthusiasts will love this tire the most.

I never want to go back to mud terrain tires, but I do want to get the aggressive look and performance that mud tires provide off-road. So for those like me who want the performance of a mud tire and limit road noise to the level of an all-terrain tire, this Nitto Ridge Grappler is the perfect tire.

Its main purpose is to give offroad enthusiasts an alternative to mud tires that are a little more comfortable in everyday use.

And the Nitto Ridge Grappler’s best area of expertise is its performance on mud.

Mud is the number one enemy of all-terrain tires.

So this tire is made of mud terrain tire compound and does not perform average in deep mud like other all-terrain tires.

I don’t trust the Falken Wildpeak AT3W or the BFGoodrich T/A KO2 in deep mud, as their treads get caked in mud and can’t clean themselves properly. In this regard, the Nitto Ridge Grappler is unmatched for self-cleaning its treads and providing a powerful grip in deep, sticky clay.

Basically, with this tire, you will feel more confident off-road. Get the same performance as a mud tire.

Also, its load-carrying capacity is very high. It can easily cruise 70-75 MPH on the highway with a ton of heavy trailers without any balancing issues.

However, the Nitto Ridge Grappler’s LT tires are a little stiffer, so they slip a bit on wet roads. But its performance in snowy conditions or mud is invaluable.

However, the 275/70R17 size Alterrane tires that are very common and commonly used are the ones I have included in this list. My favorite though is the BFGoodrich T/A KO2 tires. However, you should consider tires more about needs than wants.
